Weaves for ladies with Curly and/or Kinky hair

So you want a weave, but don’t want to have to worry about having to keep you hair straight or doing twist outs and not worry about your hair reverting….Easy solution- get hair that matches your texture. More and more women are buying hair to get their hair to look like us..Surprising right? At first its to get straight hair down their back, now alot of women what the look of a natural without taking the plunge. Here are some options:

Halley’s Curls - Great price for the hair. It is processed, but I don’t care if its processed if it matches my hair texture :-) They have a sale going on the month of July! Woohoo! Im about to get some of the Creole Curly or Creole wavy.

Creole Curly                                                       Natural

Next we have All About My Hair in 2 textures (similar in price to Halleys Curls)

Kinky Curly                                                           Natural Coarse

Lastly, Bohyme Brazilian Wave – This is one that you can purchase at a BSS (Beauty Supply Store) BUT it sheds alot so you should seal it if you purchase. I used this before. Their promo picture doesn’t do the hair ANY justice. When you wet it, it has a great curl pattern. The picture below is how it looks straight out the pack. It looks similar to the AAMH Kinky Curly above.

When people think about a kinky curly type of texture usually it is a debate between those 3- Halleys Curls Creole Curly, AAMH Kinky Curly, and Bohyme Brazilian Wave. Depends on what you want to spend and how long you want it to last.

Remember when buying curly/kinky hair, the length is measured it it’s stretched state so if you order 18 inches…it may moreso be like 15 inches when it is wet.

Oh yeah, one more that is fairly new and getting recent buzz is Arjuni.  They actually sell hair using the Hair Typing system, but they don’t sell 4’s..unless it’s not avail online. With them it is online only and you have to sign up for a free phone consultation with them so they can find the best match for you.  Here is their 3c and  3d

I’m planning on getting a weave soon as my protective styling so I hope this helps some people that are thinking about a weave but don’t want to do the traditional straight hair and want less hassle dealing with their leave out.

This was great!! I have natural 4A, 4B hair and I have worn weaves before and it was always such a hassle trying to get and KEEP my hair bone straight. I had never heard of the”All About My Hair” and I love the kinky curly hair pattern. I will definitely be trying that! Thanks so much!

Hi I currently have Halleys Curls Creole Curly installed in my hair.
Creole Curly has a beautiful texture, but it is very hard to maintain. i am struggling right now with it and its not even a week since i had it in. i followed all of the directions to maintain the hair and it stills frizz up on me and gets tangled. when its wet and semi dry the curls looks beautiful, but after a couple of hours it swells up and turns in to a hard brillo pad. i had to suffer thru a first date looking like a Chi Pet, thank goodness my date looked passed my bad hair day (my oufit distracted him ; ) ) i am going to give it another try again with some anti frizzing products to see how it turns out. hopefully it will work. Wish me luck….

i heard from other blogs that All About My Hair is good, but it sheds a lot as well. Try realhairexclusive.com , i heard good things about them.

I have had 2 installs now of all about my hair. I do love the look of the hair, but the maintainence is “tough”. Firstly with every weave, you should wash your hair. When you wash the “kinky curly” by All about my hair, it immediately tangles “badly”. You will lose lots of hair. I do have a leave in detangler that helped some but once its tangled you will be unable to get it out. It tangles at the base of the weft, so on the weft of the track line. The only solution is to 1- take a razer and salvage what you can from the knot (If you are not a professional, please have your hair stylist do this for you as it is dangerous) and i have never done this on my own—or 2— manually yank it out, which i dont recommend either but that is the only way i know to get the “knots” out which are at the base of the weft.

I am now looking for weave hair that does not kinky up as badly as the kinky curly all about my hair. Again, its beautiful hair, but when you wet it, it kinks so badly (plus the weave hair is super expensive–for your average consumer).

Any suggestions on other hair? Or even how to keep the kinky curly detangled?

I purchased from AAMH kinky curly on two occasions. I must say, I cannot handle the tangles. I have been searching high and low trying to find a solution to the tangle problem. I love the love of the hair, but the maintenance is HELL.

No matter what products I try, the hair tangles madly.

Hey ladies. I recently installed the ONYC kinky curly 3c-4a hair. They have 2 kinky curly hair, I have the kinkier frizzier type. I love it. I am transition to natural so I did not want silky curls. This hair is soft and thus far minimum tangles (which is expected for curly hair). But this hair is frizzy (oh Lawd) really it’s the closure piece that is so dry. It’s a catch 22 because the frizzy texture is what gives it life because it is very realistic. It has beautiful coil curls, and a soft look and feel. Now this is baby-sitting hair.
Since the install 1 week ago, (once) I wet the hair with a Infusium 22 water mix, then Organix Coconut leave in and followed with Organix Coconut hair serum. Which I let it air dry. Nightly, I just spay it a little Organix leave in. In the morning I reapply Organix serum. Now here is the kicker, I have Organix Coconut hair mouse at my desk and rub a little of that before I leave the office at night…lol to look good on the train ride.
It may sound a lot, but it’s not—most of the baby-sitting is for my closure piece (also from ONYC-kinky curly). I only combed out the hair 2x since the install and I can still run my fingers through it. This hair is wonderful if you love big curly afro type hair, but it is softer and curler then a traditional afro. People stare at me to try and figure if its my hair cause I am dark skin African American.

Heres a review of my Halley’s Curls Creole Curly if you want to beat the frizz use a product like or similiar to Mixed Chicks Leave in Conditioner. The hair is meant to be afro curly so keep this in mind if your looking for really tamed curls try another curl pattern.

I had the same problem with not being able to manage the hair….with halley or bohyme brazilian, the bobraz as they called it. So i looked for an alternative and found model black hair’s website http://www.modelblackhair.com. They sell a kinky curly that was so much easier to maintain….i just combed it out while showering with conditioner in it and what a difference. Those other two brands had me spending more than a half hour trying to comb out their hair in the shower and tons of it would come out in the process. I’m telling you give them a try.

I’ve been ordering the Natural in 12″ and 16″ for over a year now and more times than not I get a bad “pack.” I went to the Hair Care section bought everything they recommended, and it still forms knots/balls at the base or just gets tangled. I stopped using the CareFree whatever coz it just looks like a big chia pet when it dries. It costs way too much to be getting messed up within weeks.

    How are you ladies maintaining?
