#TravelThursday How To Fly Spirit & Not Get A Bag Fee
Okay! I hear the biggest complaints about Spirit & Frontier. Their flights are super low, so that means they pretty much charge for EVERYTHING else. Baggage is always the biggest concern- especially for those of you who HAVE to take 3 outfits per day and 5 pair of shoes for a 3 day vacation! You do get one free bag to carry on. The FREE bag has to be able to fit under the seat in front of you. It has to be smaller than 16″ by 14″ by 12″. Here are some tips to help you out:
- Actually TRY to limit the amount of clothes you bring. Just narrow it down and down until you can have one outfit per day. I use the notepad on my iPhone and write down each day and what I want to wear. I pull out the clothes I am thinking about and slowly start eliminating items I don’t need. For example, I always end up bringing something that I am least likely to wear. Why even bring it if I’m 80% sure I’m not going to want to wear it??
- Bring items that transition from day to night. For example a casual dress that is fine by the pool/beach, but also works for dinner if you slip on heels instead of your flip flops. Also bring items that you can wear more than once. A pair of jeans for example can be worn more than once on a trip- I don’t really know too many people who wear their jeans once and then wash them.
- Get a small bag that is approved by the airline that doesn’t incur any fees. Commit to it!! lol
Here are some great bag ideas:
London Fog Cambridge Satchel- This is the under the size required and can slip right under the seat in front of you at 16″W x 10″H x 9″D. These are nice and easy and you just have to learn how to roll your clothes up and you can get maybe 3 or 4 outfits in there (unless it’s in the Winter)
kate spade new york Julia Street Striped Lyla Weekender is the perfect bag under the requirements and has a long strap. Sometimes that long strap helps when traveling and you can also it crossbody if you need to move swiftly through the airport.
Louis Vuitton Neverfull (Any size)…okay, its a steep price but you can fit many outfits rolled up in there and when you get to your destination, it doubles as a purse. Best of both worlds. Also, they developed the bag to hold up to 200 lbs worth of items so you can really pile it up in there lol.
