#SoulOfNOLA Day 1 in New Orleans- Hubbard Mansion & Ashé CAC

It’s no secret New Orleans is my favorite place. I want to move here one day with my future family. The spirit and culture of this city is unlike any other.

Today I got to hang out with the Soul of NOLA crew for a tour of the city

Hubbard Mansion Bed & Breakfast

I’ve always wanted to stay at a bed & breakfast. On the tour, we stopped at a quant b&b in the Garden District area of New Orleans. Owned by a Black man, this house was originally destroyed in the ’50’s by a hurricane. Mr. Hubbard rebuilt the house for his wife and she decided she wanted it to be a b&b after retiring.

They have antique furniture that they had from their previous homes to give the house an authentic feel.

The southern charm is unmatched! The guests in the lobby have been coming for over ten years and told us they stay yearly and the owner treats them like family.

Ashé Cultural Arts Center

It might not be Mardi Gras but we had an amazing greeting from a band!

I just love this city so much, and a big part of that is the culture and music. While I have never been to Mardi Gras, the Ashé Cultural Arts Center displays Black art and houses some of the Indian costumes and other krewes like Zulu. You can see their elaborate costumes and learn about the culture of our people. They have different programs throughout the year as well.

Thank you Essence and Soul Of NOLA for such a great experience.
