My Review Of The Sarova Hotels In Kenya

My Review Of The Sarova Hotels In Kenya

Traveling to Kenya was exciting and overwhelming at the same time. Safety was a priority for me and looking for hotels was a bit hard to make a decision. Luckily I was able to work with the Sarova Hotels in Kenya. They have hotels and resorts all over Kenya including Mombasa on the coast.

I was excited that I would get to try out 3 different Sarova hotels including on the safari. My friend Saundra recently stayed with them and told me that it was a great safari.

The first two nights we stayed at the Sarova Panafric. In a great location near every place we went, it was a very nice hotel. When you first drive up, they stop you at the gate and check the car and then when you pull up, they check your bags through a security belt and then you walk through the metal detectors. Security was definitely felt all over Nairobi. I was happy to go through those precautions. After all, you wouldn’t want anyone coming in and potentially hurting innocent people of Kenya and tourists. So first thing I noticed of course is that the hotel was very secure.

The rooms were super cozy and the staff was amazing! Everyone was just so friendly and was always able to assist us! Because we got in so late the first night from our flight, We really only got to enjoy the hotel for one full day. Oh! Breakfast is included!!

The next two nights, we stayed at the Sarova Stanley Hotel in the Central Business District of Nairobi. I loved this location even better because it was in walking distance of tons of places- food, lounges, tech and clothing stores also. This is a 5 Star hotel and based on reviews, it is #6 of all of the hotels in Nairobi according to TripAdvisor.

While the Panafric was more contemporary, the Stanley was definitely more elegant and “vintage”. This is an old hotel that famous people like Ernest Hemingway, Frank Sinatra, etc.. used to stay at. This hotel has a ton of history and I love how they kept the decor but with modern amenities.

The staff was EXTREMELY nice and looked out for us all of the time. If we needed to go to the ATM, they would send security with us. If it was raining and we wanted to go eat, someone would walk with us with umbrellas to our destination. If we needed suggestions on places to go, they directed us to great spots. They even gave us advice on places to not go that might be unsafe for tourists. It doesn’t get any better than that. I have literally never been to a place with such great hospitality and I have stayed at hundreds of hotels in my lifetime. They were attentive to everyone’s needs. While most of the hotel’s guests were people who looked like they were on business, I didn’t see many families and children which is good for me lol. I would say this is definitely a hotel if you are visiting for vacation and want to be in a great area that is walking distance to various places. It wasn’t too far from the airport.

Lastly, we headed to the Sarova Mara in the Maasai Mara region. After a 45 minute flight on a small plane, we headed to the resort with our Safari Guide Edward. Wow! This place was amazing! Think Glamping (Glam Camping) or Luxury Camping. You are in tents…but not quite the tents you might be thinking about (see images below). These luxury tents have big beds, mosquito nets, but aside from the wood/glass door, everything else is like a tent. The bathroom was HUGE with a large shower and separate toilet area. All of the camps in the area are eco-friendly so they shut the electricity off a certain time to conserve electricity. It didn’t bother us. We got to take in all of the sounds at night of the animals in their habitat which was pretty cool- and sometimes scary lol. What a different, cool experience!

Breakfast, lunch and dinner is included and they always had great food. James O. took great care of us in the dining area. They had all types of food- Indian, Chinese, and much more. With different options daily, you were sure to not be bored while you are there.

All of the staff always with a smile on their face, were just as attentive as the other Sarova hotels we stayed at.

As for the safari, it was a priceless experience. Find out all of the details here.

I had an amazing stay with the Sarova hotels! I would like to thank them for their hospitality and amazing staff for allowing us to have a great stay in Nairobi and Maasai Mara and feel at ease and safe. We couldn’t have stayed at better places. Next time I go to Kenya, I will be sure to stay at a Sarova. Maybe next time I will head to the coast to the beaches!! We’ll see.
