Pantene Relaxed & Natural! Review

My hair and I are DEFINITELY not new to the Pantene Relaxed & Natural brand. In fact, I have been using it since it came out so when I had the opportunity to review, I jumped on it.

I used the Dry to Moisturized Shampoo and the Dry-to Moisturized Conditioner. Most ladies with natural hair tend to complain about dryness. I probably get one e-mail a day asking about products to moisturize hair. Alot of people don’t realize that that starts with your shampoo and conditioner. They have to be moisturizing, like Pantene’s Relaxed & Natural line.

Deets on the Shampoo:

Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural Dry to Moisturized Shampoo gently cleanses African-American hair without over-drying. Formulated with moisturizing ingredients, this shampoo penetrates deep and infuses hair with shine. The formula, with moisturizing oils, tames unruly hair and leaves it strong against damage. This moisturizing shampoo works for chemically-relaxed or natural African American hair.

Deets on the Conditioner

Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural Dry to Moisturized Conditioner is formulated with moisturizing ingredients that help keep African-American hair soft, manageable and shiny. This moisturizing conditioner leaves hair strong against damage while enhancing shine. Gentle enough for chemically-relaxed or natural African-American hair.

I decided to use the products for 5 days straight to give a thorough review. Prior to, I hadn’t washed my hair in a week which is no bueno for me. I couldn’t wait to wash and condition my hair because it definitely needed it lol.

Starting with the shampoo- a little shampoo goes a long way. The shampoo is very creamy and moisturizing. It definitely got all of my product build up from the past week out and I slightly detangled just using my fingers.

When I got to the conditioner, I loved the consistency. This was also creamy and my hair felt immediately smooth when I put the conditioner in section by section to coat all of my hair. This time I was detangling with my paddle brush and got all of the little tangles out!!! This conditioner definitely made it easy for me 🙂 (which you all know is a BIG deal for me or for most girls with long, thick hair)

While rinsing out the conditioner, my hair felt smooth and like silk!! My hair was shiny after, just like promised:

Smooth, moisturized, tangle free, & shiny!!??!! What more could I ask for???!!

This is a great prep for me to do a Wash & Go or a Twist Out. Like I said before, it’s not just the products you put on after you wash it…you have to set the foundation.

It is definitely clear that Pantene did a lot of research prior to creating their line for women of color. There are different hair needs that we have versus women of other races. We need moisture and we want soft and shiny hair.

The shampoo and conditioner is definitely the cure for dry hair.

I was never really interested in this product. For some reason I thought that I wouldn’t work for my natural hair. But, it seems like you got good results.

I may have to give it a try!

As a black jew, I have curly hair when I grow it out in the winter and these girls LOVE IT! I have dry hair though, so it’s definitely not the the move when I put on that new Frank Ocean track, dim the lights, and homegirl gets grossed out cuz all she wants to do is rub my hair, and it becomes Mt. Dandruff!

Head and shoulders didn’t work like it was suppose to, so I started using Pantene and you can tell the difference! I get more fingers in my hair than a weave shop on a Saturday morning!

    Pantene do work!!!!!

I’m totally with you I’ve also nem using it for my entire natural hair life! Lol I super fell I’m love with the small packs that come with the textures and tones hair color by Clairol! My hair always feels super good and you can see and feel the difference.

When I do twist outs I always use pantene relaxed and natural mixed with Shea butter oil (the $0.99at the beauty supply store) . When I use my huetiful steamer I alternate between their mask and panteen! The steamer plus panteen relaxed and natural plus Shea oil is a definite #naturalhairwin

Great review as per usual lexi! 😉

Thanks for the article. As a female going natural I’ve been looking for the perfect products to use in between salon visits. I think I’m going to give Pantene a shot.

I’ll let you know how it goes! 🙂

I used Pantene shampoo and conditioners “way back when”. Now that they have products that target natural hair, I’m loving them more.

I love Pantene Products! I love that they are making products geared for Ethnic backgrounds.

  • Grace

This is good to know! I have always been a little skeptical of “for women of color” sub lines but I have always liked pantene. My hair is multiple textures and consists of a couple of naturally different curl patterns leaving some places more course than others and in more need of moistrue. I am glad they past the test because it is affordable, good for my budget. Once I flat iron my hair using this, I hope that its like leaving the “shop”…The foundation (wash and ocndition) is definitely one of the key factors to getting it “shop” looking! Thanks Lexiwiththecurls! (FYI YOUR CURLS ARE AMAZEBALLS)

Thanks for the review…Will try the products now. Your hair looks just like mine! Seeing is believing!

  • I just washed my hair last night with Pantenes Relaxed and Natural line. I too have been using this product since it was released years ago. I love how it moisturizes my hair and makes detangling a much simpler and quicker task. I hope they expand their line in the future to include leave in conditioners and other essentials for natural gals. I hate putting gel in my hair and have yet to find a great holding agent that isn’t gel or too greasy….if Patene can formulate a holding agent that’s healthy for the hair I would love them forever.

I have very thick, natural African-American hair. Normally, my hair withstands hell, highwater and any and every attempt to keep it straight. One month ago I bought Pantene Pro V Relaxed and Natural shampoo and conditioner. I was very happy the first time, feeling the softness of my hair while still in the shower- even though I noticed that once I finished styling my hair it wasn’t as soft as I would have liked, and my scalp became quite dry, quickly. Because of my scalp I washed my hair more often than I had before. A few days ago, I closed my eyes and gave myself a scalp massage after getting home from work. I brought my hands down and opened my eyes, and large chunks of hair were sitting in my hands. The next time I washed my hair I paid more attention and realized how much I was losing. Upon inspection, huge patches of my hair have broken off, right at the root. If I didn’t already have a lot of hair I probably would have noticed right away and would have stopped using this horrible, toxic product. Now I’m going to have to down multivitamins and hair growth supplements, and invest a bunch of money in products that will repair the damage that Pantene has caused. In addition my scalp keeps getting dryer. I HATE this product and what it has done to my appearance! It’s going to take at least a year to fix!

  • That kind of thikning shows you’re on top of your game

I must disagree with your review it definitely is not a moisturizing shampoo. The conditioner is…ok buy I strongly recommend applying deep conditioner to your hair afterwards.

  • LexiWithTheCurls

That’s the thing with products…they work differently in everyone’s hair. What works for one person, may not work for another Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I love the product, when my hair was chemically damaged it saved me. Of course i have to use a deep conditioner afterwards, without pantene i couldnt get it soft with any other product. I use it once a week and for 2 years now, my hair is past my shoulders, and very healthy. And i do recommend using conditioner with avacodo and olive oil afterwards to restore moisture
