I’ve been struggling with straightening my own hair. I just haven’t gotten the full hang of it since my har has been short. It definitely was easier straightening my hair when it was longer.

ghd reached out to me to see if I could do a review on their ghd Platinum Styler and I have been wanted to try to straighten my hair again. I have been hearing great things about this ghd styler from friends.

When I am planning on straightening my hair, my biggest concern is damaging my hair. I don’t want to ruin my my curls and coils.  I actually like the versatility of my hair- being able to wear it curly or straight. My goal is to keep it that way.

Here are some specs on the ghd Platinum Styler:

  • Styling at the optimum styling temperature of 365ºF reduces hair breakage by over 50%
  • Intelligent tri-zone® technology maintains the optimum styling temperature constantly and evenly from root to tip, proven to be kinder to your hair color and deliver 2x more color integrity
  • Perfectly aligned 1″ platessmooth each strand for 20% more shine
  • Wishbone hinge gives you more control, making it easier to curl, wave or straighten in just one stroke.

The first thing I noticed is that it doesn’t have temperature variables. At 365, you can’t go higher which I like. I never go above that when I use stylers that go up to 450.

The second thing I noticed is I loved the carrying case and protective guard so I can take it with me on the road. It’s great for touch ups.

I washed my hair and put limited product on. I blow dried my hair thoroughly to make sure no parts were damp and sectioned my hair into small sections. I only passed the iron through once to straighten and a second time mid-shaft to curl the ends.

It didn’t take me long at all. I decided to do a sleek bob with a slight bump on the ends with a festive headband.

The vibrance in my color really popped when I straightened my hair.

The cute cat ears really add a festive pop to my hair. I started off with a bob, and found this cute headband from Francesca’s for under $15.

For another holiday look with accessories, I used some bobby pins from Mane Message. Adding some glittery pins in your hair add some glitz to your hair and also help keep your hair off your face.

It adds just a little pizazz to the side of your hair. It’s subtle but a great nice pop for holidays.
