“Good & Bad Hair: The New Class” Short Film Premiere- ATL
I had the awesome opportunity to go to the screening of “Good & Bad Hair: The New Class” a couple of weekends ago ( I am sooo late recapping).
You remember “Good & Bad Hair” on Spike Lee’s School Daze right? Well Creative Director Rob Myers and Lead Choreographer Tina Fears decided to do an updated version featuring local Atlanta triple threats (dancing, singing, & acting).
The short film was PHENOMENAL!! It was great to see the very talented cast recreate the scene and with a couple of additional scenes!! I can’t wait for everyone to see it!
The original piece in a way is still valid today, however, we have made some progress. Hair is a huge deal and will always be. Division based on looks is something that has always been- regardless of race or country. We have made some advancements though.
Check out the awesome cast- “The Jigaboo’s” and “The Wannabe’s”:
They will be hosting screenings throughout the states so look out for a screening near you.
And if you haven’t seen School Daze or just want to relive the scene, check out the original piece:
