Glam At The Golden Globes: Danielle Brooks From ‘OITNB’
I am a huge fan of Danielle Brooks from ‘Orange Is The New Black’. I hate to admit it, but I was late on the OITNB train! I watched it around August all late and binge watched both seasons. I became obsessed with all of the amazing characters of the show. Natural haired beauty Danielle Brooks, aka Taystee, was super glam on the red carpet at the Golden Globes with Makeup Artist Jessica Smalls @gorjessmakeup
From MUA Jessica Smalls:
This was my first time doing makeup for anyone attending the Golden Globe Awards and I had the pleasure of working with one of TV’s newest stars Danielle Brooks, from the hit Netflix show ” Orange is The New Black”. She’s a fun and beautiful spirit and I wanted to pull that out and give her a look that represented both on the red carpet.
Since Danielle was wearing a gorgeous black and gold dress, I opted out of doing your typical gold or bronze colors, we went for colors inspired by Pantone’s color of the year “Marsala”.
I started my prepping Danielle’s with eye cream and priming her eyelids. Next I used Melt Cosmetics “Dark Matter” shadow stack. I used the color “Unseen” in her crease and and using a firm brush applied “Enigma” to her lid and swept some color under her lower lashes. Using the “Love Sick” shadow stack, using a soft fluffy brush, I applied the color “Amelia” over the lid color and in the inner corners of her eyes to added a subtle glow and lastly I added the color “Dark Matter” to the outer corners of her eyes to give her eyes shape and definition. I opted out of using and top or bottom liner bc I wanted her eyes to stay bright. So to finish her eyes off I applied House of Lashes “Temptress” lash and coated bottom lashes with mascara.
I need her skin to glow! So I mixed a concoction of dry oil with Laura Mercier’s “Radiance Bronze” primer on to her face and used Black Opal “Tru Color Stick Foundation” in ” Black Walnut” and “Suede Mocha” to even out her skin tone. To brighten under her eyes and to highlight her skin I used Cargo Cosmetics “HD Powder” in No. 40. On her cheeks I used Stilla “Convertible Color” in “Poppy” on her checks and contoured under her cheek bones with Covergirl “Queen Collection” Ebony Bronze Bronzer and again using the “Amelia” shadow, I dusted that on her cheeks for an ethereal glow.
In the winter time our lips always need some TLC, so I exfoliated her lips with some brown sugar and coconut oil (homemade) to remove any dry skin and lined her lips with MAC cosmetics lip pencil in “Nightmoth” and using a firm lip brush, applied OCC’s Lip Tar in “Black Dahlia” all over her lips, used some concealer to perfect her lip shape and Danielle was ready for her first walk down the Golden Globes red carpet!!!
