Getting Prepared For The 5k

As the Black Girl’s Run 5k/15k (more info here) is approaching this September, I have to get prepared. I have done a 5k before and did fairly well. I’m not sure if I am ready for a 15k but I can definitely try.

So how am I getting prepared:

Getting back into the gym! I have missed my gym days so much. I used to be in the gym at least 3 days a week and that dwindled down to 0 days a week. I have been wasting my membership…but not any longer. I am on a plan to hit the gym 3-4 times a week to get back in shape. I will spend alot of time on the treadmill building my endurance again. I will also get into my Spin classes again which I miss so much! Those keep me energized and are challenging for me and I love the challenge.


Eating Better

I am getting better at eating healthier. I am actually now detoxing with a tea called TeaTox. It’s actually really great so far. It’s a 14 day detox (they also offer a 28 day) and you take it 30 minutes before each meal 3 times a day. It’s from



I have to eat healthier and this will be a great start! Also, I am going to start cooking more. Eating out is no bueno for me. That means it’s been alot of hot wings and such for me. Back to eating at home and cooking balanced meals.

My Gear

I have to get my workout gear up! Hardest problem for me, sports bras! The drama of sports bras is probably the worst! But luckily, alot of brands have sports bras in bra sizes now so I can get one that actually fits and supports me when running! I also love Nike’s sports bras too!
