Event: Hair & Hip-Hop Recap With Celebrity Stylist Gabrielle Corney

Danielle of TheStyleAndBeautyDoctor.com and I held an event this past Friday at The Glam Bar in Atlanta for bloggers. It was a hair event called “Hair & Hip-Hop”. We decided to get together and introduce celebrity stylist, Gabrielle Corney to Atlanta. Gabi is Danielle’s hairstylist who does her extensions. She also does Olivia of Love & Hip-Hop’s hair (and the AMAZING color) and Lisa Price’s hair for HSN. She has styled several other celebrities like Evelyn from Basketball Wives, Vashtie, Tionna Smalls and several other ladies on television.

We also had the opportunity to have K. Michelle of Vh1’s upcoming show “Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta” as our special guest hence the name of the event “Hair & Hip-Hop: Atlanta” Not only do I love hair but I loovveee reality TV so this was a great synergy.

We invited a ton of Atlanta bloggers to come hang out, snack on amazing hors d’ourves by Chef Jay Williams and drinks provided by Berry Weiss (perfect beer for the woman that doesn’t drink beer!!).

First, can I say, everyone was amazed at Gabrielle’s Indique Fishnets . You wouldn’t have even known she had clip ins. Everyone was in awe as she took them out and showed them how easy it is to put in. I definitely want some clip in’s for when I wear my hair straight! As everyone was sooo excited, they were even more excited to hear that we were giving away- not one, but two fishnets provided by one of our sponsors Indique.

We opened the floor for questions from Gabi and the ladies definitely had tons of questions. From relaxed to natural to extensions to color, we were able to get all of our questions answered. The good thing about Gabi is, she is concerned with the health of hair and will tell a customer no really quickly if it is something that will damage the hair. She genuinely cares.

Some of the key tips we learned:

  • Safely getting your hair colored at the salon
  • What products are great for moisturizing
  • When you need a protein treatment
  • Some oils that work great on your hair
  • What to do if you have oily hair
  • High quality extensions vs. low quality extenions
  • Scalp care (she is working on becoming a Trichologist)
  • Coloring extensions
  • How to keep natural hair from being dry
  • Relaxing your hair and keeping it healthy
  • Amongst many other helpful tips….
She did not exclude any hair type! She knows all about healthy hair!

I learned so many tips as well and behind the scenes of what it is like to do hair on a reality show. Those ladies work hard! If you have a question for Gabi, hit her up on Twitter. She answers hair questions! @GabiDoesHair . I will keep you posted on when she will be in Atlanta!

Our special guest of the evening arrived, R&B Singer K. Michelle of Vh1’s spinoff “Love & Hip-Hop: Atlanta” . Firstly, I am sooo tired of Housewives of Atlanta. I am ready for some younger ladies! I was happy that we were able to work with K. Michelle to introduce her to the bloggers.

She gave us some behind the scenes and what it is like working on a reality show. K. Michelle gave us a run down of each of the ladies on the show.  She definitely opened up to us and gave us the realness. We opened it up for questions so we were able to find out who she didn’t like, what we will see from her on the show, and even her various hairstyles on the show. She even sang for us and she can REALLY sing! Her mentor is R. Kelly, so what do you expect?? All I can say is, get ready for this show!!! Give it a chance and check out these ladies representing Atlanta.

All of the amazing bloggers and friends & family mingling, tweeting and Instagraming away:
