ESSENCE Black Women In Music With Lincoln
I headed to Hollywood for another quick, pic trip to attend the ESSENCE Black Women In Music celebration for work on behalf of Lincoln Motor Co. who is the official automotive sponsor. (Can we give it up for this SuakokoBetty dress???!!)
This is my 3rd year going (Year 1, Year 2) and this is always a great time. ESSENCE Black Women In Music is always very nice with all of the who’s who in Black Hollywood and music. You never know who will show up and who you will meet.
Lincoln had a beautiful red carpet and flower wall featuring the Continental and MKZ.
I attended the event with other media including UPSCALE, Soul Bounce, Vibe, & Stuff Fly People Like.
Everyone was on the red carpet!! I totally stan for Mya and I got to meet her. I didn’t ask for a pic though..I chickened out!
I always run into Yara Shahidi and her mom and publicist and they are always so kind to me! I love how Yara speaks up and uses her platform to promote positivity in the world! I wish I was like that when I was her age.
I also got a chance to meet Simon Messick. Did you watch Luke Cage? If you haven’t yet, PLEASE watch it. She played the detective Misty on the show and did a great job. I can’t for season 2. I asked for deets, but she couldn’t give any details!
Did I forget to mention the event was honoring Erykah Badu! It’s been 20 years since Baduizm came out!!!
When the event was winding down after Badu’s performance, I see Susan Kelechi Watson!!! I am obsessed with NBC’s This Is Us!! I saw her and waited until she was done talking and swooped in and told her how much I love her show. She plays Beth Pearson and her and Randall’s character have the best relationship. Relationship goals, in fact! Please watch this show if you haven’t and make sure you catch up.
I love me some Luke James. I have been a fan before the New Edition movie. His voice is like no other. I got a chance to see him open up for Beyonce years ago and was amazed at how beautiful his voice was. He is another person that I see alot of places and he is always very kind.
It was a great night! Thanks to SuakokoBetty for randomly having this dress in my size 2 days before the event. lol It was destiny! It was a ton of ankara in the building.
Thanks Lincoln for the awesome opportunity!
