Before I headed to Trinidad, I wanted to get a sew in weave as a protective style. We partnered with Echelon Hair for the Caribbean Crawl and I decided to get hair that was similar to my hair texture- I couldn’t decide between the Organic Curl & the Coil Curl.
As you can see, they are definitely different textures, but I figured if I added some of the Organic at the top, then it might blend with my hair better and look more natural. My stylist Shawnda Dee hooked my hair up and colored it and worked her magic with blending the two textures. (I would just suggest getting one texture because it will definitely be easier). Shawnda is awesome and her placement was amazing mixing the textures. It gave a super natural feel.
Check out the many looks of my Ecehelon hair throughout the trip:
Freshly washed hair in it’s full natural texture (Don’t mind the pink! lol I did an event in Trinidad that included getting paint in my hair)
Luckily my stylist made it so I can still put it in a ponytail 🙂
Yay for the ponytail looking super natural!
Brushed out after swimming for the day!My hair definitely looked super natural on vacay!!
For any type of curly or kinky hair, you HAVE to maintain it. It does take work. This is the same with any brand. You have to keep it detangled and moisturized as you would your own hair. Just because you have a weave doesn’t mean to forget about it and just go. Curly hair takes maintenance.
1. At night, make sure to put it in a loose ponytail or do chunky twists throughout. This will help prevent tangling.
2. When you wash your hair, make sure to detangle from the bottom up and deep condition your hair (especially when you have colored the hair)
3. Moisturize the hair. Make sure you are properly moisturizing your hair to keep your curls poppin’!
