Curly & Fit: Afro-Soca Carnival Boot Camp with Cantu & Coach Cass
I started Curly & Fit out of a necessity to myself, and my friends around me. I used the excuse ” I don’t want to sweat out my hair” to not work out. That type of mentality is NOT healthy. Women of color tend to use this excuse alot, according to the CDC and according to my own research lol.
This year I was excited to kick off the tour again with Cantu who is one of my favorite brands since before I was even natural (over 10 years ago). They have a new Apple Cider Vinegar line (In stores at Target) which was is actually great for workouts so this year worked out perfectly.
(More deets on the line)
The Root Rinse helps you cleanse your scalp in between washes. It’s like a detox for your scalp. You can use this with protective styles well also. After a good workout, you can use this to refresh your scalp before your wash day! It’s perfect for workouts!
I am always excited to fuse healthy hair in with working out!!
We started off in New York with Coach Cass who has excellent African-based classes. She teaches at Alvin Ailey as well as other top dance schools in NY. She also travels the world teaching. We were so lucky to be able to work with her again for a Carnival themed class since Carnival is currently going on in certain parts of the world!
This class was sooo much fun and made me sweat!!! If I can dance, have fun, sweat, and burn calories, then I am on the right path. The biggest thing with the classes I select is that I want it to be fun. You don’t have to feel like, “Uggh…another workout?!?”. You should be excited to go. Cass gives you just that.
