I have been obsessed with curling wands recently since my stylist Shawnda taught me how to use them. They are so fun and easy and a great way to add texture or definition.
So, a couple of weeks ago I straightened my hair and it stayed straight for a LONG time! But, my scalp was needing to be washed soon. So typically when I am headed toward wash day from a straight style, I do something like bantu knots or a twist out so my “dirty” hair won’t show as much.
I decided to do my new obsession.. on straight hair. I took a curling iron I already had and faked like it was a curling wand. Instead of using the clamp, I just wrapped my hair around the barrel in small sections to create the perfect curls!
To prep the hair to give the curls some shine, I used Motions Radiating Gloss and then got to curling!!
After it was all done, I used the Motions Hold & Shine Styling Spray which is an anti-humectant (which I need in this ATL weather EVEN in the Fall/Winter) and provides hold –but not a hard, sticky hold.
I got rave reviews and so many positive comments about my hair!!
To top it off, I did this even on my natural wash & go when I filmed a TV show last month! I used the Radiating Gloss on freshly diffused hair and manually used a curling wand and did the EXACT same thing. Of course it looks completely different on my natural texture vs. my hair straightened. Still provides great texture and the Radiating gloss gives it the shine I needed! I didn’t do ALL of my hair though! When it’s in its natural state, its really big so I only did the parameter and the top part that can be seen. No point putting heat all throughout the hair if no one can see it anyway 😉 I am left with defined curl!
