So this weekend I was thinking that I need to do something to my hair to ease my working out and sweating. What I was doing WAS working, but I wanted something that gave me more than 3 or 4 days. I decided to do twists with Marley Hair. Marley hair is very thick and coarse but resembles the look of natural hair. I purchased 5 packs of hair..three 1B (color- darkest...

I trim my own hair from time to time. Sometimes because I wear my hair in its natural state the majority of the time, it’s hard to see if I have split ends. The sure way for ME to tell when I need a trim is when I do two strand twists and the bottom doesn’t curl at the end of the twists. If its raggedy or jagged and just looks janky at the bottom, I know...
I am always one of those people that tends to take out their own extensions. It’s not always great cause it’s so easy to cut your hair….but you know I do.. risktaker with my hair. I had these extensions in for a little over a 4 weeks. Perfect timing for me! PerfectLocks.com in Virgin Curly I get hair scissors and am VERY careful cutting the string...
Once I get toward the end of my hairstyle, I am always looking for something to do to my hair. Of course, I can always go to a ponytail BUT after watching Basketball Wives last week, I wanted to do the infamous “Draya Braid” that is her signature style. She does it with her hair out, half up, and in a low ponytail. Since I had blown out my hair prior, it was easier for me to braid. I parted my hair diagonally and underhand braided down in a swoop. It’s not as “clean” as it could’ve been, but it was...
I do tons of twist outs on a regular basis. I do them because they last me awhile. With wash & go’s, I have to style my hair more often and I am a little too lazy to have to do it everyday lol. Alot of people ask me what I do at night with my twist outs. I retwist my hair every night, but not in the same sections I did originally. Most people act like it...
Even though I had a blast playing with the extensions, I am back to my own hair. This was the LONGEST time I have EVER kept extensions in. Almost two months; 7 weeks strong. With the exception of my scalp itching (totally normal), I had a great experience. The Scalp Soother totally helped me out. Shawnda Dee helped me throughout the whole process teaching me how to...
I feel like I haven’t had my hair out in like 10 years but in actuality it’s only been 6 weeks. A great six weeks of protective styling. After I took out my braids and detangled the birds nest that was on my head, I decided to do a flexirod set. I got out my grey and orange rollers and got to work. I took small sections and used a rat tail comb to smooth the hair and then I rolled under all the way and secured the roller by bending them in. So I totally suck because I didn’t start putting the rollers in until about 9...
Back in the day, I had my staple braid products. Every summer while going to Kiddie Kollege/Kiddie Kamp at Hampton University, I would get my box braids in. We were in the sweltering heat and swimming 2 times a day and my mother was NOT trying to do my hair everyday. So about every 5 weeks, I would get my braids redone. So this leads me to my go-to product as a child- The African Pride Braid Sheen Spray. I haven’t used that product in forever…until…last month when I got my box braids in!!! So the product is back in my...
I absolutely love my braids! If you follow me on Instagram, then you will see all of my many (well, I guess not so many) braid styles. Mostly put them in a high bun. I think it looks so cool and different though. I either put the bun towards the back or towards the front. I also just wear them out and put to one side of my head. Here are some questions I have been getting: How do I like my braids so far? I love them! My head doesn’t hurt, no little bumps for anything being tight, they are perfect! This might be my go-to style. Are...
These days, I am in my lazy mood. It’s hot (90 degrees in ATL) and I am just plain ol’ lazy. I got so comfortable with the weave because it wasn’t as much maintenance. This definitely is leading me to getting some box braids before my trip! I want low maintenance for awhile. It looks like I will be doing alot of protective styles this summer… :sigh: So this leads me to my “Lazy Style”. My lazy style is definitely a high pony tail! It’s not as big as it used to be before I cut it, but its still...
