An Interview with me-Pros Urge Consumers to Investigate Advice Thoroughly

I hadn’t had a chance to check out this article I was interviewed about months ago.  I love the way it came out. It is for an online magazine “My Salon Scoop”.  Here is the link to the article HERE . It is basically a Stylist vs Youtuber discussion. Stylists (of course) advise everyone to see a stylist, whereas a Youtuber or Blogger may say to reach out to Youtubers or check out videos. My take is to not listen to all Youtubers, but not just that, to not listen to stylists! Just because someone is licensed does NOT mean they know everything about natural and just because someone is a Natural Hair “Guru” doesn’t mean anything either. I don’t recall any beauty school that specializes in natural hair unless its a couple of classes on locs. I have come across multiple stylists who have absolutely no clue what they are doing with natural hair.

On the flip side, I don’t think people should put all their eggs in one basket (the Youtube basket). I feel like alot of times, we look at youtubers hair and say “Oh she used______ and her hair turned out like this. I can do that too.”  …Yes, you can do that too but that doesn’t mean your hair will turn out the same and it doesn’t mean that you will be able to learn the method of style via video.

I of course leave chemicals and cutting to the professionals (unless I am trimming) as most people should–but then again, some people are great at this themselves.

Research, research, research at all times.
