African Pride Beauty & The Beat – Essence Festival Recap
I had an amazing time at the African Pride “Beauty & The Beat” event in New Orleans this weekend. This was the first stop on our #NOLAcrawl and it definitely set the precedence for the rest of the weekend. The African Pride “Beauty & the Beat” Beauty Suite and “My Pride. My Way” campaign promotes healthy hair care, celebrating the individual style, innovation and beauty of all women because “When it Comes to Hair, We Write Our Own Rules.”
My #NOLAcrawl crew!!
( I put flexi rods on my old straightened hair to add some body to it)
The African Pride Beauty Suite featured special celebrity appearances by Spinderella , Kelly Price, AJ Johnson and Mama Dee!
We got a chance to hear Kelly Price talk about hair in the industry. She talked about her many hairstyles and how hair and how you look is such a big deal in the industry. It can make or break you which is so sad that if you don’t wear your hair a certain way, people judge you or you can’t get as far…hence why we see alot of the same images in Hollywood- long and straight and super skinny. She brought up alot of very eye-opening conversations.
She also talked about R&B Diva’s LA which I can’t wait to see! She has another upcoming reality show she is casting for so look out for that.
Since this was an 80’s, 90’s , and now event, they even showcased hairstyles from the different decades:
During the event, ladies got to get some makeup touch ups, enjoy music from Spinderella who was DJing, and got to chat with everyone. At the end, attendees got to take home tons of fabulous African Pride goodies!
We had a great time! I can’t wait for next year’s event at Essence! They consistently have great beauty events! Thanks Garner Circle PR!
